CCEYD Leads Accountability and Anti-Corruption Project in Ghana’s Kunbungu District
The Centre for Communities Education and Youth Development (CCEYD) is implementing the “Strengthening Accountability, Rule of Law, and Institutional Responsiveness in Ghana” project in the Kunbungu District of Ghana’s Northern Region. The initiative seeks to strengthen transparency, improve governance, and empower citizens to actively participate in promoting accountability and the rule of law.
The project is being implemented through a partnership led by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), and the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC). Together, the organizations are working to enhance the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) to advocate for reforms that promote accountability, institutional responsiveness, and good governance across Ghana.
The initiative adopts a three-pronged approach to tackling corruption and strengthening democratic governance. It focuses on empowering citizens to effectively use corruption reporting mechanisms, supporting investigative journalism to expose corruption and promote transparency, and advocating for reforms to legislative and institutional frameworks that reinforce accountability.
A key component of the project is the active inclusion of young people and women in governance processes. By increasing their participation, the initiative aims to build stronger, more engaged communities that are equipped to demand accountability from public institutions and contribute meaningfully to the fight against corruption.
In the Kunbungu District, CCEYD will work closely with community members, local leaders, and relevant stakeholders to raise awareness, strengthen civic engagement, and encourage citizens to take advantage of available accountability mechanisms. Through community education, advocacy, and collaboration, the organization seeks to foster a culture of transparency and responsible governance.
The “Strengthening Accountability, Rule of Law, and Institutional Responsiveness in Ghana” project reflects a shared commitment to empowering communities, strengthening democratic institutions, and promoting sustainable development through accountability, integrity, and citizen participation.
